Head of Engineering at Xyra Labs. I have shipped trading and payments systems at scale ($2B+ volume, 370M+ transactions). I build AI for inference, speech, and research engineering.

I run engineering at Xyra Labs (formerly Kana Labs). I led the build of xyra.trade, an order-book perpetual futures exchange that runs fully on-chain on Aptos and has done over $2B in lifetime volume. Before that I built the Kana Paymaster, which sponsored gas for over 370 million Aptos transactions. In my own time I build OpenVox, which runs streaming speech recognition on-device on Apple silicon. Lately I have been building an AI system that tells whether the other party on a live call is a human or an AI agent. I am also researching CRUX, a tiny System 1 model, to see if a small classifier can handle changing rules and instructions.

What I do

I build systems where mistakes are expensive. Trading infrastructure taught me to budget latency and memory, measure honestly, and design for the failure case. I bring the same habits to AI work.

AI: inference, speech, research

  • On-device inference. OpenVox runs streaming speech recognition locally on Apple silicon (ONNX, MLX), so audio never leaves the machine.
  • Speech AI and evals. A pipeline that detects AI voices on live calls, evaluated on real and generated speech.
  • Research engineering. CRUX compares four architectures under one pre-registered protocol, with frozen splits and fixed seeds.
  • LLMs and agents. The Claude and OpenAI APIs, open-weight models, and a team that runs coding agents in parallel tracks.

On-chain systems

  • Perpetual futures exchange. Order book, risk engine, liquidations, funding, and keepers for xyra.trade: $2B+ volume.
  • Account abstraction. Kana Paymaster on Aptos (370M+ sponsored transactions) and an ERC-4337 smart-wallet SDK on 14+ chains.
  • Cross-chain swaps. Any-to-any aggregation across EVM and non-EVM chains: $1B+ in swap volume.

AI work

Inference, speech AI, and research engineering, plus the agent tooling I use every day.

AI-voice detection on live calls

Is the other party on this call a human or an AI agent?

Livereal-time scoring

A system that estimates, while the call is still going, whether the speaker is a person or a voice agent. I work on the speech-model pipeline, on evaluation against both real and generated speech, and on code review across the codebase.

The project is private, so names and dataset figures stay off this page. I am glad to walk through the approach and the eval design in an interview.

  • self-supervised speech models
  • evals

OpenVox

Private, on-device voice dictation for macOS. Side project.

Hold a key, speak, and the text lands at your cursor in any app. Two streaming modes: Moonshine Streaming transcribes when you release the key, and NVIDIA Nemotron Speech Streaming 0.6B types while you speak. The models run locally on Apple silicon, so audio never leaves the machine. The app downloads each model the first time you use it.

CRUX

Can a tiny model follow rules it has never seen? Open research.

17–30Mparameters

A compact System 1 decision model. The hypothesis: rule-conditioned computation and counterfactual training help a small network generalize to new decision tasks better than a standard transformer classifier. Four architectures, from an Ettin-17M baseline to an instruction-conditioned hypernetwork with permutation-equivariant scoring, are compared under one pre-registered protocol with fixed seeds and equal budgets.

Data pipeline, counterfactual generator, and frozen evaluation splits are done. Model training has not started, so there are no results yet.

Agent-native engineering

How my team ships, and the tools I built for it.

I write the architecture and split the work into independent tracks that coding agents (Claude Code, Codex) can run in parallel. The agents work from standards docs I wrote for them, and every PR goes through automated review → fix → re-review loops before a human signs off. When the tooling falls short, I build my own.

srch

Full-text search across Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor conversation histories. Trigram index, memory-mapped, sub-millisecond queries.

  • Rust

mem0

Local-first terminal memory for developers and AI agents. Under 20 ms capture, automatic secret redaction, error fingerprinting.

  • Go

On-chain systems

Four years of production web3 at Kana Labs, now Xyra Labs: an exchange, account abstraction, and cross-chain swaps.

xyra.trade

Order-book perpetual futures exchange, fully on-chain on Aptos. I led the build.

$2B+lifetime volume

  • Core protocol (Move): I owned the architecture of the clearinghouse, positions, liquidations, funding, TP/SL and scheduled orders, market modes (active, reduce-only, MM-only, settlement), role-based administration, and the Pyth oracle integration.
  • Off-chain stack: Pyth price keepers with batched on-chain updates, a scheduled executor, a funding bot, and market-making bots across six markets.
  • SDK: the public TypeScript client @xyra-trade/perps, with REST and WebSocket transports and order builders for limit, market, stop, and take-profit orders.
  • Now: leading the build of a next-generation, high-performance exchange engine in Rust.

Kana Paymaster

Gas sponsorship for Aptos, the most widely adopted paymaster on the network.

370M+sponsored transactions

  • Built on Aptos fee-payer transactions (AIP-39): dApp registration, user and function allowlists, sponsored submits, and fee-payer pool management.
  • Designed and operated the production service (TypeScript, Prisma, Kubernetes) and shipped @kanalabs/paymaster-sdk.

Open to AI roles in inference, model infrastructure, speech AI, and research engineering. Also open to senior web3 engineering or protocol leadership roles with real technical ownership.

Most of what I've built handles real money: an on-chain exchange, a paymaster, a swap aggregator. I also build AI: streaming speech recognition that runs on-device, speech-model pipelines and evals, and research code with pre-registered evaluation. Next I want to work on inference, model infrastructure, and speech AI, where latency, memory, and honest measurement matter as much as they do in trading. I'm happy leading the team or writing the code.
